Palliative Care in Essex

Comfort. Dignity. Reassurance. Support at home for people living with serious illness—plus calm guidance for families, every step of the way.

Personalised care and support provided at home

Palliative care is about comfort, quality of life, and emotional support for people living with serious or long-term illness. It’s not only for the final days—palliative care can be helpful at any stage of an illness, alongside other treatment and support.

At Firmly Care, we provide palliative care across Essex, supporting both clients and families with calm, respectful care that prioritises dignity, choice, reassurance and wellbeing.

We provide:

  • Person-centred care shaped around your wishes, beliefs and routines.

  • Comfort-focused support with pain/symptom reassurance and rapid response as needs change.

  • Family-inclusive planning and support.

What Is Palliative Care?

Palliative care focuses on relieving symptoms, reducing stress and anxiety, and supporting physical, emotional and (where important to you) spiritual wellbeing so each day feels as comfortable and meaningful as possible.

When someone is approaching the end of life, CQC highlights the importance of ensuring people are supported to experience a comfortable and dignified approach, with pain and symptoms assessed and managed effectively, and with access to specialist palliative care support where needed.

Working To CQC-aligned Principles

We shape our approach around what regulators consider good end of life care and person-centred practice, including:

  • Recording and respecting preferences (including cultural/spiritual needs) and keeping plans under review.
  • Involving the person and those important to them in planning and decisions.
